Background
Bit of a rarity this one, and if it wasn't for the fame that followed guitar prodigy Richie Kotzen, this one could've sat on a dusty shelf somewhere in middle America. From Pennsylvania, Arthur's Museum were a small time band with big ambitions. Borne in the era of hair-metal, these boys have got more hair than a Vidal Sassoon fashion shoot! From an AOR perspective they sound kinda like Idle Cure meets Beau Coup, with more in the guitar department. Hailed by many as an AOR classic.. I find that tag unusual, considering that we've only got five tracks, and not all of them are that flash - to be honest.

The Songs
The band start out with 'L.A' which sounds like a pumped up version of Beau Coup. If the first track is supposed to impress me from the word 'go', then I'm still waiting.. 'Feels So Good' is a bit stop 'n' start, didn't do a lot to hold my attention, though it improved as it went on. Quite liked 'No Turning Back', probably the best track here. Guitars and keys are on overload here. Well done. 'Lady' didn't do anything whatsoever. The sparse sounding verses and attempt at harmony vocals which don't quite hit the mark puts this one in the 'cringe' category. To me it sounds like an enhanced demo. Probably the second best track on this platter is 'Life', the keyboard stabs running amok around Kotzen's instinctive guitar work ranks this track as above average. Again, use Idle Cure as your reference.

In Summary
Because this is only a five-track effort, it probably won't demand the attention of hardened music buyers. The excessive price demanded of this along with the limited number of tracks will make this an unattractive proposition for most - prices of upward of $200 are not unknown. For me, I don't really rate this as a must-have, the muddy production and average arrangements are surpassed by other much better LP's out there. However, if 'Gallery Closed' is a sought-after item for you then by all means venture forward, but don't tell me I didn't warn ya. Of course, guitarist Richie Kotzen went on to bigger and better things, but this is where it all started for him..

Interesting album. The only track I don't like is 'Lady'. 'LA' and 'No turning Back' are solid rock songs and 'Life is cool, too. 'Feels So Good' is a nice power ballad. I pretty much agree with this review.

Both ‘LA’ and ‘No Turning Back’ are driving killer cuts and the melancholic ‘Life’ is a close runner up. I’m surprised, with all the underground collectible hype, this hasn’t been reissued. My copy came with a nice press package in the form of a giant fold out poster.
