Spin Gallery is a Swedish project which has singer Christian Antblad as the focal point. This album also features a couple of other names; Magnus Weinemo and Kristoffer Lagerstrom, so you can imagine the whole thing has a very vocal focus. I haven't heard this much vocal harmonising since the glory days of Little River Band perhaps the ultimate vocal harmony melodic rock band. Let's not forget that the trademark sound on this album is provided by Tommy Denander. He also co-write nine of the songs with Antblad, so the recipe is very familiar, but classy as always. Unusual that Antenzia took a punt on this project, as their roster was full of nu-breed and modern rock acts, a far cry from the commercial melodic strains of Spin Gallery.

The Songs
Getting underway with the title track, you'd be forgiven for thinking this was a Radioactive album, such was the hard-edged push generated by Denander. Some neat modern keyboard effects precede 'Heartache' and give the song an overall happy upbeat vibe. 'I Still Recall' has more of a fit with the recent Deacon Street material, a ballad with very melodic overtures. More modern keyboard effects and a racier arrangement dominate 'No Looking Back'. More reflective, is the ballad 'My Heart', written by Planet 3's Clif Magness while the Nelson like acoustic rock of 'Satisfied' screams Top 40! The track 'Waiting In My Dreams' has a dark near atmospheric feel to it, imagine a guy like Mark Spiro singing this song on some long dusty road out in the middle of nowhere. The last song 'Grace' has been heard previously; on Radioactive's 2001 album 'Ceremony Of Innocence', but unfortunately for Spin Gallery doesn't quite match the standard of that previous version.

In Summary
Overall, all good stuff, a tad familiar with other bands and projects coming out of the Denander camp, despite these albums having a point of difference - which is ironically, only up to a point! Spin Gallery as a project has yet to surface with a new album since this effort. No doubt they'll need to find a new label as Atenzia is now no longer. However the major issue will be trying to find some spare time in which to fit in the schedule of Mr Denander, who is one very busy individual right now. However, as a showcase for Swedish vocal talent, Spin Gallery delivers on three counts. The surnames Antblad, Weinemo and Lagerstrom should be worth keeping an eye out for in future.

I agree the version of Grace on Ceremony of Innocence is superior, interesting enough, its Kristoffer Lagerstrom doing lead vocals on that version as well!! , also an instrumental version of Grace appears on another Denander release!
